This part of the blog will cover articles about teaching and outreach. I am passionate about teaching and having worked in a research institute for ten years before embarking on my university career, feel that teaching and interacting with students is perhaps the most rewarding aspect of working in the university sector.
We are often told that our research informs our teaching, but I have found that teaching is a great boon to my research. Firstly, in having to think about what it is I have actually done and what it really means, so as to communicate it to a less experienced audience and secondly, many of the questions I have been asked by students during and after lectures, have stimulated me to start new areas of research.
These entries are dedicated to all the students I have taught over the years. I thank them all for their encouragement and support.
